The shows, known as “The Tucson Fall Preview” (Oct. 26-28), “The Tucson Fall Festival” (Oct. 31-Nov. 4), and the “Tucson Fall Classic” (Nov. 7-11), will spread the word about the Steele Center’s groundbreaking research.
Many of the Tucson-area barns and stables participating in the show will display banners showing their support for the Steele Center, and junior exhibitors will distribute information about the Steele Center to visitors.
“The horse show management, the vendors and the exhibitors have been so welcoming to the Steele Children’s Research Center,” says Peggy Rowley, Steele Center advisory board member. “The ‘Tucson Fall Shows’ are allowing us to display posters and banners around the show grounds, and there will be a jump in each Sunday’s Grand Prix, sporting the logo and name of the Steele Center.”
“We are delighted to help the Steele Children’s Research Center,” says Jeff Gilbert, horse show manager. “We encourage Tucsonans who love horses to come and enjoy the shows. Spectators can enjoy the shows free of charge, and they will find the Sunday Grand Prix events, held at 1 p.m. Oct. 2, Nov. 4 and Nov. 11, very exciting.”
The Steele Center conducts research in areas of childhood cancers, cardiology, critical care, gastroenterology and nutrition, genetics, pulmonology, allergies, immunology and neonatology. The physician-scientists also care for patients at The University of Arizona – Diamond Children’s and many outpatient clinics throughout Arizona.
The Pima County Fairgrounds are located at 11300 S. Houghton Road. Spectators should enter through the fairgrounds gate on Brekke Road. For more information about the horse show, please contact Jeff Gilbert or Dave Anderson at (520) 762-9108, ext. 28 or 29.
